Botswana

The Jewel of Africa. Land of the Tswana. Botswana offers some of the most unique topographies in the world. The Makgadikgadi salt pans are the largest in the world with a surface area similar to that of Switzerland, and the Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world. Botswana holds geography seen nowhere else on the planet as well as an unparalleled abundance of wildlife. Explore islands where no human has set foot before. Choose between "roughing it" in dome tents, experiencing the wild intimately during walking safaris, or luxury lodging. Or combine and find the perfect balance to be tailor made for you. Either way: pioneering begins here.

  • Day 1-4. Depart Maun and leave civilization behind within the first minute of flight. Watch the landscape transform when approaching the beautiful accommodation the Makgadikgadi salt pans have to offer. After a meet and greet with your guide it's time to go straight into the action. The next four days are packed with activities, both on the ground and in the air. Explore Kubu Island by helicopter, watch flocks of thousands of flamingoes and experience absolute nothingness after a landing in the dead center of one of the massive salt pans. Don't worry, there's wild life to search for as well. From getting up close and personal with meerkats to catching glimpses of the elusive aardwolf and brown hyena.

  • Day 5-10. The helicopter takes you from one extreme to another, leaving the dry salt crust of Makgadikgadi behind and seeing it make way for the winding marshes of the Okavango Delta. Here you will split your stay between two accommodations. One to be reached only by helicopter, a true adventure with overnights in canvas dome tents and walking safaris. Don't worry, comfort is the focus of your next destination, a high-end lodge made for a more relaxing experience. A day trip will be made to Tsodilo Hills, also known as Mountains of the Gods, to witness rock art thousands of years old. Plenty of other flights will bring you to the most desolate places. Islands surrounded by water teeming with wildlife are yours to discover while the silence truly emphasizes that no human has set foot here before.

  • Day 11-12. North we go. A private flight over the Victoria Waterfalls allows you to take in the magnitude of this geographical feature without having to share your aircraft with other spectators. You will finally be dropped off at your hotel, from where you may enjoy some more activities to see the falls from up close.
